My stay at the Hanoi Elegance Diamond was one of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. Every staff member was exceptionally polite and greeted you every time they saw you. I arrived at around dinnertime and to save time I ate upstairs at the Gourmet Corner restaurant. Again the staff were great and the food was lovely. The entire wait staff even sang Happy Birthday to me and brought out a cake. It was a very nice welcome to Vietnam. The hotel is wonderfully situated to explore the old quarter and only a short walk to Hoan Kiem Lake. If you need to go further afield, the helpful front desk staff will call you a taxi, which are very inexpensive in Vietnam.
My room was large and just about had everything you could need. My only issue was the size of my window. A disturbing trend in new hotels across Asia are rooms without windows. If you’re a little claustrophobic like me, you might want to ask for a room with a window. I had asked for a room with a window and at first I thought they gave me one without, such was the size of the window. But this is only a very minor quibble. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this hotel.
There are several Elegance hotels in Hanoi and from what I read on Tripadvisor, they are all very well regarded.
